**This position is full-time and housing is on camp property for the duration of camp season.**

Position Summary:

Assist Head Cook in preparing, serving food and keeping the kitchen clean and orderly.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists the head cook prepare and serve meals and cleanup.

  • Assist preparing, purchasing, and packing out food for units for cookouts.

  • Maintain Kitchen, food storage and dining area to meet ACA standards and state health laws.

  • Monitor and maintain freezer and refrigeration temperature levels.

  • Assist in unpacking, inventorying and storing deliveries.

  • Complete appropriate end-of season reports and procedures, as appropriate.

  • Attend and participate as required in pre-camp training, as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned to meet the Council’s goals

Education/Certifications:

  • Current Safe Serve Certification, preferred

  • Training in food service management

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Ability to assist preparing meals for large numbers of people.

  • Ability to work with food service equipment and maintain a safe and orderly kitchen.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others

Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:

  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).

  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Insurable under the Council’s policy for driving and proof of personal vehicle insurance.

  • Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with staff, parents, girls, and volunteers.

  • A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout Mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the Mission and Vision to external and internal stakeholders.

  • Willingness to become of member of GSUSA
