Position Summary:
 

The Digital Marketing Specialist will exercise their talents in graphic design, web management, and social medial management, as well as general marketing by assisting the Director of Brand & Strategy Management with developing and maintaining an awareness and image of the Girl Scout Movement and purpose among all constituents with the council's jurisdiction. The Digital Marketing Specialist will provide content writing, updates and maintenance schedules for the council website, social media sites, and e-newsletters using Girl Scout brand voice.

 

Essential Duties:
 

  • Develops and implements digital marketing plan and timelines for website, social media and e-newsletters/e-mails to meet the needs of the Council and its users in a timely manner with on-time delivery of a quality finished product.

  • Works with all departments to develop web friendly content and social media engagement strategies that identify opportunities for growth.

  • Develops web friendly graphics for website and social media.

  • Executes email marketing campaigns end-to-end, including copywriting, testing, and deploying, while ensuring campaigns are delivered on time accuracy and align with Girl Scouts’ brand voice.

  • Assists in the management of the copy/production process for the entire council, ensuring that support and timely development of product is maintained.

  • Acts as a traffic coordinator for all marketing and communications opportunities.

  • Manages flow of marketing and communications requests to ensure continuity and eliminate duplication of services.

  • Produces outstanding layout and innovative design as requested.

  • Participates as an active member of the communication team, providing input and creative resolutions for projects on hand.

  • Assists the Director of Brand & Strategy Management or Chief Advancement Officer as back up when they are unable to be present.

  • Other duties as assigned to meet the marketing department and overall council’s goals.

 

Education:
 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field (Visual Communication, Marketing, or Graphic Design) or equivalent combination of education and strong experience.

 

Knowledge and Experience:
 

  • Must possess a clear understanding of marketing, branding, communications, public relations, advertising and design principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Professional

  • Knowledge of web content management solutions such as AEM (Adobe CQ) and technologies such as Java, HTML, JavaScript, and web services. Experience in web design desired.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud desired

  • Exceptional knowledge of social media

  • One year of experience with vendor and/or media relationship management

  • 2-3 years of experience working within the marketing and brand industry in an agency or freelance environment, accompanied with a proven track record of results and success

  • General knowledge of production regulations and accountable to working with outside vendors to ensure reasonable priced and quality products.

  • Initiative, reliability, dependability, and maintenance of confidential matters.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Strong skills in planning, organizing, and evaluation of written/oral communications.

  • Ability to work well with others and to share office space with staff and volunteers.

  • Comfortable in handling a multitude of projects with overlapping deadlines.

  • Continuously work as a team member and willingness to work with other teams.

  • Professional work attitude/mannerisms that coincides with the need for some fun, too!

 

Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:
 

  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).

  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Ability to sit at a computer work station for extended periods of time.

  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.

  • Work is performed primarily in a non-smoking office environment

  • Travel may expose employee to inclement weather conditions.

  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel to various work and meeting locations to meet with volunteers and staff.

  • Insurable under the Council’s policy for driving and proof of personal vehicle insurance.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with staff and volunteers.

  • A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout Mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the Mission and Vision to external and internal stakeholders.
