We are currently seeking a Part-Time Crisis Service Assistant - Nutrition Assistant.
 

Purpose:

Provide residential clients with support for all aspects of food preparation and clean up, teaching skills to support a healthy environment in the YWCA, and that individuals and families can take with them.

 

Expectations of every YWCA Staff Member:

  • Uphold and promote the YWCA Mission.

  • Maintain compliance with state standards.

  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.

  • Contribute to fund development efforts for support of all programs and the overall Association.

  • Provide support to other departments and staff.

Essential Duties:

  • Be available in kitchen and dining room area and communicate supportively and positively with residents throughout entire shift.

  • Assist with menu planning, shopping, and meal prep as needed.

    • Prioritizing utilizing food resources provided through Community Harvest and other donations.

    • Using coupon and sales effectively

    • Pursuing affordable shopping options

  • Assist Chef and Residents in food preparation and serving.

  • Work with residents to ensure all clean-up of kitchen and dining room is completed thoroughly.

  • Follow all Safe Serve and Health Department standards.

  • Assist in training residents in food safety and clean up processes.

  • Host volunteer groups as available to support positive and healthy experiences for the volunteers and for residents of both programs.

  • Assist with maintaining an adequate inventory of all shelter consumables; including but not limited to, personal items, kitchen supplies, and food by utilizing shopping list.

  • Rotate stocks to prevent expiration and limit food waste.

  • Transport clients in company vehicles, as needed.

  • Assist with site and building support, especially in kitchen, dining room, and pantry areas, including but not limited to, maintaining medication keys, assigning rooms, monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures, replace toilet paper and shower curtains, and make beds and clean facilities.

  • Work as a team with all staff on duty, communicating urgent matters or important concerns regarding clients, and document in community log as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned to meet the organization's goals.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • CPR and First Aid certifications.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong customer service skills with ability to communicate in a professional manner with a wide range of people. Unequivocal commitment to pluralism.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion when handling potentially confidential or sensitive manners.

  • Strong time management skills; ability to take initiative to solve problems and work with minimum supervision.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • 1-3 years of experience in nutrition services or healthy meal planning

  • 1-3 years of experience with general office equipment (copiers, printers)

  • Accurate, organized, and detail-oriented, with ability to work under pressure and shift priorities in response to changing needs.

  • Ability to keep accurate records and files

  • Must comply with organization's policy of automobile insurance: must have a valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance coverage.

  • Flexibility to change work hours as needed.

Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:

  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).

  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Need to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.

  • Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with clients, staff and volunteers.
